The Biggest Tucker Sucker

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

My wife and I like to play a game related to our first dog. It’s called “Who’s the biggest Tucker sucker.” Actually, it’s not really a game but an at home version of reality TV. It started with our first puppy Tucker. Now we have both Tucker and Murphy, so it has been shortened to just sucker.

Essentially, the game works like

this; whomever buys a toy, gives a treat, plays a game (when it wasn’t part of the plan), or who is begged into giving a ride to our dogs is a sucker. We have a hard time not doing things for or buying things for our dogs. If I have the money and I think they’ll like it, well I’m sure you know what I’m talking about.

The Ultimate Tucker Sucker title was given to me on one rainy night. I mistakenly said the word “Ride” without thinking about it; kind of like that adult who says a bad word in front of the kids. As soon as I said it, I caught myself. However, it was too late. Tucker heard the magic word. The tap dancing and dancing on the floor began. He was so excited, it was heart breaking.

I thought to myself, “Well I do need to pick up the paper.” So off I went at 2:00am in the morning to get the Sunday paper. My wife gave me the title ultimate Tucker Sucker. Off we went for a quick ride to the store. Tucker couldn’t have been happier. In a way, although inconvenient, I was happy too.

It’s been said a thousand times that dogs don’t live long enough. I figure one unexpected ride to the store from time to time won’t kill me. It certainly made Tucker’s day. Let’s just say that I ware my “Ultimate Tucker Sucker” badge with honor.
