A Blog About Golden Retrievers and Dogs in General
Here Jenny and I will write and share our favorite Golden stories and articles. Hopefully we'll give some informative tips on the Golden Retriever breed that may also help those with other breeds. Feel free to comment or add to our blog. In addition, if you would like to write a story, feel free to contact us. Our goal is to keep this light hearted, heart warming, or fun. Thanks for reading!
The Dog Days of Summer
Written by Administrator Tuesday, 09 June 2009 03:53
Summer means several things if you own a dog. First off, it means that the mud of spring is finally gone, or should I say most of the time. In addition, it means more days outside with the dogs. Goldens love the outdoors any time of year, but the summer brings a wider variety of entertainment. There are the birds, the rabbits, and more dogs to bark at, chase, and play with. In addition, there is always some fresh grass for our Golden’s to graze on.
As the weather gets warmer, we break out the sprinkler or the kiddie pool for our dogs to splash around it. Not that Jenny and I didn’t enjoy the summer months prior to owning dogs, but I can say with certainty that we enjoy the summer days much more since we got them. Trips to the dog parks and walks are a regular occurrence.
The only downside to summer is that rides in the car are limited. With the heat of the summer months, the only trips the dogs take in the car are either at night or on the way to the park. Nonetheless, summer makes for some good outdoor fun if you own dogs. If you own a Golden, then you know there aren’t many days that go by without a game of fetch or chase. Their playful nature really shows most in the summer. I have both my dogs to thank for enjoying my summers just a bit more.
